SEO (Search Engine Optimization) can make or break your blog. Trust me, I understand that those three little letters may seem intimidating and scary. If you play your cards right and a little practice. SEO will become your best friend as you venture into the world of blogging.

Yes, there are these “gurus” that teach SEO and they make it complicated and down right hard. Really, it is not as hard as these “gurus” make them out to be.

I have three simple steps that I use for my SEO search that I think will help. There is not a magic wand or blogging fairy that comes and get your blog or your blog post rank. It take good SEO writing content  that will help Google and Pinterest to recognize your work.

Do Your Research:

Before I start any blog I always do a SEO search on Google and Pinterest. This give me an idea on what my audience is searching for in order for me to gear my blog post towards them. I recently took a class called “Adventures in SEO” by Lena Gott click here for more information.  The first thing she taught was do your SEO research. This has help me ALOT because instead of typing just to type. I type according to the searches that my readers has put in. For example, if wanted to write a blog post about Christmas Cookies. I would do a Google search for Christmas Cookies. That would let see what other bloggers are posting. If I want details information I would do a Google Adwords search to verify how Christmas Cookies are ranking on Google.

Write Out The Words  or Phrases You Search on Google and Pinterest That Gave High Ranking:

I got this idea from Lena Gott. This idea was like a light bulb that went off in my head. For years I would blog on different topic and  my Yoast SEO would always stay red when it came to my SEO ranking….soooo frustrating. When Lena advise how she would write down the SEO word searches and incorporated then into her blog it was an “AH HA” moment for me.

SEO Tips

Writing out your SEO words will help keep your blog on track and to help it flow much better with your readers.

Trust me when I tell you that this simple step is a life saver. The reason why because you have the SEO word search right in front on you. This will save you time going back into your blog trying to figure out how to make your content SEO friendly. Another reason I like this because it help with the flow of your blog. If you read some of my old blog content you can tell that I was adding words just to try to get that dang red light off of my Yoast SEO. Writing out your SEO words will help keep your blog on track and to help it flow much better with your readers.

When I finish writing my post I would control F on my blog and review the different words or phrases I search. I do this to verify that majority of them  are in my post. If they are then I know my post would rank well with Google and Pinterest.

Rule of thumb don’t over use your SEO words or phrase. Google is very finicky and it would look down on it when you added SEO word that does not sound natural. Google and Pinterst is still big on content that will help the reader. If every word or phrase is the same through out your post Google make it very hard for you to rank and they may even consider it as word stuffing.

Don’t Over Think It.

I have to tell myself this all the time. Blogging is very joyful and hard working business. Right now as I am writing this blog it is 12:05 AM (eastern time) and I know that trying to have a good blog post  and content can make you go bonkers.

The beauty about blogging is that you can always go back and re-read your blog and see what you can do better to make that particular post more search friendly.

Just don’t over think. The beauty about blogging is that you can always go back and re-read your blog and see what you can do better to make that particular post more search friendly. There was days I would not blog for months and months because I felt like I could not reach my audience. Just because I did not know what to research to reach them. Along the way I learn just not over think it. Step back for a couple days and go back to the blog and search again how you want your blog to flow with the words you have searched.

I hope these simple tips have help you with the dreadful letter SEO. With some time and practice those three letter will not be your emeny but they will become your friends
